I'm on mirtazapine 45mg and quetiapine (150mg xr) they are both shit for anxiety. I have an appointment with my psych on Thursday and I'm thinking of asking to swap mirtazapine for trazadone and increase in the quetiapine. Has anyone any experience of swapping mirt for traz.. any advice

Are you intending to take the trazodone only for insomnia, or as an antidepressant?

Mainly for anxiety/depression?

Trazodone is likely to be more effective than mirtazapine usually with fewer side-effects. It is important that you take the slow-release formulation (Oleptro), not the immediate-release (Desyrel) prescribed for insomnia. However, I think one of the TCAs might be a better bet.

You may find Stephen Stahl (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stephen_Stahl)'s, "Mechanism of Action of Trazodone: a Multifunctional Drug" (PDF (http://citeseerx.ist.psu.edu/viewdoc/download?doi=10.1.1.605.7477&rep=rep1&type=pdf)) useful.
