Hi

Wee been rushed to A&E 3 times now in 10 days.

My 7 year old son is having episodes of palpitations.

He has had lots of ECGs and a holter monitor for a week, nothing.

The doctor made him lay down and then stand up quickly. His heart rate rose to about 150.

I glanced at her paperwork and she'd written POTS?

We have been referred to a cardiologist.

I know a teeny bit about this.

ANyone else? im so scared xx

POTS can cause a few unpleasant symptoms, but the good news is it is not life threatening and often improves over time.

It will be okay! Does anyone else in your family experience similar symptoms?

Hello

No. Only him.

When he stood up, I saw the monitor's number rising and asked him if he was OKand he said yes. He wasnt aware of how fast his heart was beating.

Ive now been told if it happens again, to take his pulse and rush him to A&E or my GP to get an ECG!

Why did you have palpitations when you were little?

I have POTS! My HR was 167 the other day just sitting down! Increase his oral fluids. That will help a lot and tell him to stay calm if he has palpitations!

Ways to get your HR down? Plug your nose and blow out while bearing down (like you have to poop)

Fill a bowl or the sink with cold cold water and plug your nose and DUNK your face in. It will take your breath away but it really does get your hr down.
