:weep: Please can someone help me.:weep:

I suffer with constant dizziness when I leave my house. Even getting my daughter to school, which is less than 1 minute away is proving to be a problem.

Am I suffering with a bit of agrophobia?
If so, how is this cured?

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!

Thank you for reading this!

Hi Lizzie.

I used to feel very dizzy doing anything that made me anxious (this was mainly shops, lectures, work and social events). I became agoraphobic, but was fortunate in that it lasted a relatively short amount of time. I still get dizzy waves sometimes but it's not really a problem for me anymore.

Anyway - I'd suggest that you keep trying to do the things which make you feel anxious. Don't push yourself to the limit, but just keep plodding on and trying to face something every day. The most important thing you can do is to stop yourself running away from this. So, if you're finding it hard to take your daughter to school, keep going and just allow yourself to experience the dizziness but see it for what it is. It is anxiety. It can't and won't hurt you. Nothing bad will happen. The more you realise this, the less intense it will be and eventually you won't be anxious at all.

Have you seen a doctor at all? I had CBT and found it really helpful. Also try getting hold of some books about panic and agoraphobia. If are prepared to work hard at overcoming this, you will be able to :)

Good luck and all the best :) xxx

Hi Lizzie

I find distraction works best for me when i feel panicky out doors, i try counting colours on things, e.g. the colours of cars, or make words out of car numberplates, i also take my mp3 player out with me , i listen to music which helps too.
Heres some post that may be of interest also.:)

Correct abdominal breathing will help.

I had the dizziness for many years. Mine was also helped by exercise even though you may not feel like it.

Certainly look at your over-breathing though.
