So in August of 2014 I had a colonoscopy and an endoscopy. When the procedure was done the Doctor told me I just had a small internal hemeroid and some slight swelling but overall nothing to worry about. So today, I am at my primary health provider, and he is discussing with me when I should have my next colonoscopy since I have some history in the family for CC, my dad survived stage 3 going on 4 back in 01, and my grandfather had it as well. he recommended getting one in 2019. While looking at the test results, I read under the endoscopy part, minor inflammation, probably Barretts. So now I am kind of upset because apparently barretts is pretty serious, like a pre-cancer. so the doctor prescribed me some omiprozol or some meds. I am even more upset because that dumb doctor told me no worries, so basically I have had barretts go unchecked for almost three years. My doc is referring me to a specialist but its the VA so it will probably be 5 years from now before I see them. Now I am wondering if at 37 I have Barretts, how soon will I have the Big C. Got to love the VA, "giving veterans a second chance at dying for their country since 1930."

I think the irrational side of anxiety is taking over. That's okay; it's part of it and I've been guilty myself, so many times. No judgment. But my dad had Barrett's for many years before he got cancer, and his cancer was due to fairly extreme lifestyle habits - recent and past. Do you drink a lot? Use drugs? Smoke? You know, the usual. Having GERD (do you) makes you more susceptible to throat irritation and such.
