Hi

To cut a long story short I have been on 20mg citalopram for about 7 years now and I have just had a major set back (I posted about this in the general anxiety section if anyone is interested). My doctor has increased the citalopram dose to 30mg. He said this shouldn't cause side effects citalopram has been in my system for so long. I am just worried that it will make my anxiety worse. Does anyone have any experience of increasing citalopram dosage after a long time?

hi, sorry i can't answer your question exactly, but it sounds like it is worth trying the dose increase, and then see how you feel after a week or two and then take it from there. i know it's easy to think that your anxiety will get worse, and we often tend to assume the worst, but it would be worth a try as it could be exactly what you need. perhaps you and your doctor can consider taking an anti-anxiety med alongside your citalopram if necessary, there are lots of options for you.

It may do for a while, but probably not as much as you fear.
