Moldy carrots?

I cooked a pie from the freezer earlier (store bought chicken pie) and after I started eating I noticed there was a carrot that has gone brown at one side (like a direct split of orange to brown/black). I was wondering what the reason for this is and if it would make me unwell if I had accidently eaten some.

It was probably just freezer burned. You would know if it were moldy (and even then, mold isn't all that harmful!).
