Hi there
Can anyone please advise on moles and help me to stop obsessing. Went to the docs 2 weeks ago about an itchy patch on my back - she said it was a seborrheic wart (senile wart - I am 54) and nothing to worry about. Also said as I had a number of moles on my back (I am quite moley and have had 2 removed in the past, both benign), I should get them checked by another doc in the practice who is a skin specialist and can look at them properly with his special instrument, as we can't really see them on our backs. Went to see him today and he said they were all fine except the one under my bra strap was irritated. It has itched me in the past many years ago although i'm not aware of itching me now and I don't think it appears any different, but he suggested taking a photo of it and coming back to see him in 6 weeks and to cover with a plaster a week before so it doesn't get irritated and then he can look at it properly. He did say it looks similar to the others on my back and that there is nothing showing that he would lose sleep about but I am now in a major panic - if he wasn't concerned why does he want me to go back again? I am hoping to go on holiday soon and am now obsessing and panicking over this mole. I keep telling myself that if he was really concerned he would have referred me? I do wish this HA would go away!! The ridiculous thing is I was more concerned about the seborrheic wart which is really itchy but he wasn't bothered about that. As I left he did say he didn't think it would look any different in 6 weeks but I feel I can't wait that long to know...!

It's called CYA (cover your a$$) medicine. If he were concerned, you would have been referred.

Positive thoughts

Thanks for your reply Fishmanpa - that makes me feel less anxious.
