Swollen finger.....

Hi everyone

Woke up this morning and my right index finger is about twice the size of my others and really sore.....and bright red - as far as I know I haven't hurt it but think I may have an infection.

Any ideas on how to get rid of it as I hate going to the docs and it seems so pathetic but looked on internet and read story of woman having to her hand amputated after infection (I know, I should never have looked!)....

Hi,

You sound like you've got an infected finger it's nothing to worry about. I used to bite my finger nails years ago and sometimes if I did it to much it would get an infection. You will find the best cure is to find the bit the hurts the most and gently scratch at it with a pin until you pop it and yellow puss will come out believe me it will feel such a relief and stop hurting.

Hi if its swollen around the nail area try to soak it some warm salted water,sounds like you have an infection.
