I have been prescribed diazepam for a severe anxiety spell I am going through. I have never taken them before despite being on seroxat for 18 years.

Can anyone tell me what they will do to me?

What dose were you prescribed? I take 5mg about one or twice a week, it makes me feel a little bit more relaxed but to be honest i find this dose isn't strong enough to get any relief. Everyone is different though. Best to start as low as possible and see how you go. The effects only last a few hours though and the dose becones less effective over time with frequent use, so it's not a long term solution. Are you still on seroxat? Did you dr discuss anything about your current dose etc?
