hi all,
got my liver panel test result back.
so in the span of 6 months, here are the number: 46, 40, 46 (max range is 32)

instead of referring me to liver ultrasound, my doctor wants to continue to monitor. All other numbers are in normal range. I already checked and i didn't have HepA,B,C or auto-immu. I'm at a lost. Shall i push for a liver ultrasound?

thanks
Helen

From what I can see normal ALT levels go up to 56.

Each person is different so establishing your "normal" sounds like the right way to go.

thanks Elen. I've been through the same ordeal last year and it was also fluctuating from 29, 68, 82, 32 with a different insurance carrier. my GP back then didn't think it's necessary to have liver ultrasound or see specialist because according to their policies, only specialist if # is above 100, and my number went back down at 32 and all HEP tests were cleared. the GP even said you shall be worried when your number is up to 200 (he understood my health anxiety and was empathetic).

Now with PPO insurance, i can see specialist without referral, but i'm trying to temper my health anxiety and listened to the new GP for once. I agreed to be monitored every 3 months already till now. Now she wants to discuss with me in our next appointment which won't be until 6/20. I"m feeling like i'm just wasting time with repeating blood tests because 2 years in a row, it's proved that it's fluctuating when an ultrasound can get a better picture and move forward with treatment if indeed something is not right, but the other part of myself feels scared and anxious.

thanks for reading my rant.
