My Mum brought me a new notebook (as suggested by the psychologist) and have completely forgotten its purpose.

Can someone explain how I use it to help?

There are many possibilities.

Can you remember what you were discussing with the psychologist at the time? It might be possible to try to give your memory a jog but ultimately we will never know for sure and there is only one way to get a definate answer.

Apparently I am to write my thoughts, but what will that do?

It depends why you are doing it.

It could just be a recommendation to journal. It might be a data gathering exercise so they can see what thoughts bother you & how.

If it was something to challenge thoughts, I would expect to see some techniques involved which depends on whether you have forgotten that element.

Did they say anything about ranking how the thoughts affect you, what triggers them e.g. what were you don't at the time, the frequency, etc?
