My bf recently got me to do this mental game the other day during a panic attack. It was hard at first but it definitely helped. Its been recommended to help people fall asleep too apparently.

You have to think of a four letter word, with no letter repeats. .eg FROG.
Then you have to list out loud as many word you can think of starting with each letter. No personal pronounce like people's names.

By the 4 letter I had calmed down considerably.
Has anyone else found success with these sorts of things?

I like that technique! :) These mental games occupy your brain with something creative rather than destructive (anxiety). My boyfriend and I sometimes play themed alphabet games whereby you come up with a topic, such as 'fruit' or 'blue things' and then come up with an item whose name starts with each letter of the alphabet. It definitely helps me relax before bed and not be so tense when I'm laying in bed.
