On Sunday, I started experiencing this burning sensation in my right breast around the nipple area. It came and went every few minutes. Monday it was gone so I forgot about it. Then yesterday it happened again on and off. I woke up this morning with it gone, about 20 minutes of being awake it started again. I'm not pregnant and my period ended about a week ago. I'm 32 years old. I'm terrified of IBC. Anyone had this happen?

There's no redness? I would call your local breast center and make an appointment to see one of their doctors, but I also wouldn't panic, because IBC is relatively rare. Could be a lot of non-serious things, even just a skin issue. I'm never gonna say don't get checked when it comes to weird breast symptoms, though. Sometimes we do have to see the doctor.

No redness or swelling. Looks completely normal.

I would HIGHLY doubt it was IBC. I just went through this fear a few months ago. IBC presents as rapid swelling with redness of breast, not nipple. I get burning in my nipples from time to time. It is hormonal, I think!

Thank you! Yea, that is what I'm reading but I also read burning too. Ugh! Could be hormones when it's only one side? What was yours like and how long did it last?

I had that pretty often when my HA has started and I found a lump in my breast (which was nothing) but for a while the nipple on that side was burning and making me anxious, but once I've moved on from that fear it disappeared so I think it can very much be anxiety. If u think about it burning skin is a very common symptom of anxiety, i guess its just burning on a very specific part of your body

Thanks!!! How long did the burning last? Was it on and off?

I'm going through some stuff on my left breast right now and my mind is going all over the place with it. Burning is one of it along with pain and it's sorta on and off too. I'm soo scared. My doc is sending me for my first mammogram and I'm soo scared.

Im so sorry! *Hugs* I'm here if you need to talk. You're welcome to PM me. I'll be praying all goes well with your mammogram. I went through a mess of breast stuff last year. I had 3 mammograms, 4 ultrasounds, a breast MRI and a core biopsy. Everything came back benign.

I posted the other day that I've been experiencing burning in my right breast particularly my nipple area. A couple days after that, I noticed it's actually cracked. Like it's open or something. It burns on and off all day. It's been this way since last Sunday. I'm not pregnant, not nursing, I just finished my period less than 2 weeks ago. I have no idea what caused this. I googled, dumb I know, and pagents came up. I'm beside myself with worry. I'm frustrated because I've really been working on my anxiety and had been doing quite well and I was proud of myself, all that has flown out the window. :( Anyone dealt with this?

What do you mean cracked? As in cracked skin? Could it maybe just be dry skin or smth like that? With the test you said you've had done it sounds almost impossible they would miss something if it was wrong

Yea like the skin on the top of my nipple has split apart or the ducts where the milk comes out is opened. It doesn't look or feel like dry skin. Even if so I've been applying creams and it's not going away. :( I'm terrified!! All my tests were done 8 months and a year ago not recent.

okay from your description it still sounds normal to me, the skin on top of the nipple most of the time appears slightly cracked? at least on me lol, like its not completely smooth normally

Idk it sounds like it could just be irritated skin to me, if you're very concerned you can always go to your GP and ask about it, but if you've had very extensive examinations not too long ago I don't think anything dangerous would just happen overnight, but then I'm not a doctor so I can't know.

I've been applying steroid cordisone cream the last couple days. It visually looks better but it's still burning on and off.
