Strange soreness in tongue and mouth

Ok this is strange. Few weeks ago I came home from a trip abroad and got a sore throat shortly afterwards, fairly common to get that so I didn't worry and it went away in few days. But I was also having weird pain in my tongue and at the top of my mouth, but mostly in the tongue. It happens when I move it to the sides or up and down. It went away for about a week but just came back today. What could this be? Of course I'm worried about some tumours hiding somewhere. I really have no idea how to describe this, anyone here that has had something similar?
I went to a doctor for the sore throat few weeks ago but he didn't see anything.
