Hello all,

I first posted on here 11 years ago and I felt I needed to return today.

The good news is I have booked a holiday for me and my family.

The bad news is I am apprehensive about flying. I have had a panic attack on a plane in the past.

I have flown once in 10 years with the aid of Diazepam which I have again.

I think what I am trying to say is that I am fed up of hiding away from this and depriving my family of holidays abroad.

So I plan to grasp the nettle and hope for the best.

Hi Danny

Go you!!! That really is the best way. I am currently trying to face stuff head on and not to be scared anymore. You have your diazapam and you know you will be safe.

I have recently started reading a book called DARE - It is actually really helpful and I think you might benefit from it.
Its on amazon and when you buy you can sign up to their facebook page which is for everyine else who is literally daring eveyday. Its really god plus there are two apps you can download too. I normally get fed up of the same books etc but I find this one is different and straight to the point. The point is, face the panic, accept the sensations etc when you get them and ride the stgorm (as hard as it may be), eventually your brain will give up and move on.
Its what I am using now anyway and thought you may be interested.

Otherwise, go on your holiday and have a blast. You will be perfectly fine

Hi TA

Thanks very much for taking the time to reply.

I know it’s hard but exposure is really the key to solving the puzzle from my perspective.

I am going to seek that book out and report back. I may even take it with me to read around the pool :)

Thanks again

No problem. I am finding it really helpful and its great having the facebook page where everyone else is trying to accomplish the same things. It really helps

Hi, I took your advice and bought the book. Guess what? I had a great holiday with my family and am going away again next month. Next year planning on going to NYC. Thank you for your help.
