I had a fungal rash on my arm, got given cream and it disappeared but still saw the outline. Today however it is back and pink and more prominent. Why? Would this concern you?

I've had that happen. It's probably not fungal but eczema. I still get it on and off. Go see the doc about it and chase up your anxiety therapy while you're there :)

STOP, you are winding yourself up over nothing

Log off and find something to do to distract yourself.

You are the only person who can stop this and coming here for re assurance is just keeping the cycle going.

Elen, I am trying I am and then this rash came back up and my anxiety runs straight to 'this is skin cancer'

---------- Post added at 21:55 ---------- Previous post was at 21:19 ----------

My counselor would say 'night be, might be skin cancer, might not. Don't know I'm not a Dr, if it's still there in three months, go check with an actual GP'. If I were then to tell her that I'm scared to leave it, in case it then kills me, she would reassure me that she would come to my funeral and bring nice flowers :roflmao:

Tbh it's what we should all be telling each other on here, 'is it something terrible?' - 'no idea might be, could be, might not. Go live your life, see if it gets worse or better, stop checking, stop googling, stop asking other people'.

Within a few months this forum would be tumbleweed :winks:

There's a really excellent resource here (https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/hypochondria/Documents/Health%20Anxiety%20A4%20%202010.pdf) that will tell you everything you know about fungal rashes and basal cell carcinoma.

So you've been given cream for a fungal rash which I'm guessing has been diagnosed by a qualified practitioner (pshh what do they know?) so why does it have to be cancer when you know its not?
Personally it looks like a insect bite mark to me and you have been itching it like hell.

Yeah, right.

For the last two years I've been suffering from a real pain in the arse. Doctor said if I ignore it it'll go away.

I really should listen to him.

Have you checked this great page (http://www.cci.health.wa.gov.au/docs/Health%20Anxiety%20Module%206.pdf) for people who want photos of their spots looked at by other people?

I'm posting here now, watch the mod turn up. lol

Helen I spend 75 percent of the time thinking you are full of it and 25 percent believing you. I have been at the point where perfectly normal spots, marks and rashes seemed alien to me. I studied the veins in my hands and arms for weeks, convinced they were protruding abnormally. I'm recovered and my veins are the same as then but I take absolutely no notice of them now. Have you ever stared at a part of your face in the mirror? I'll bet you have. The longer you stare the weirder it begins to look. And so it is with you focusing all your attention on those various spots and marks. When is your therapy starting and why has it taken years for you to start getting any?

both this rash and behind leg are improving slightly after usong doublebase cream, so does this mean they are eczema?

I don't want to scare you, but this rash business is making me wonder and you should really read this for more information (http://www.cci.health.wa.gov.au/docs/Health%20Anxiety%20Module%206.pdf).

Helen's not answering so let's just talk amongst ourselves.

The Western Australia site you provided a link for is excellent axolotl. For one thing it is directly related to Health Anxiety. It can be hard to find information directly related to HA. Even trying to find a psych who specialises in that area is difficult. Psychs tend to deal with anxiety in general. You should ask Nic to consider making that link a sticky. It is an excellent self-help resource for HA sufferers. :)

You seem to have a lot of skin irritations. Maybe you should switch your soaps or practice better hygiene.

How rude:ohmy:,You do not get Ingrown hairs or Exzema from poor Hygeine.
Helen has Health Anxiety and needs to get help for that

Helen does have a lot of skin problems and they could be related to the products she uses or her hygiene. Maybe read some of Helen's past threads before you start calling people rude.

No its not rude. Its honesty. A lot of people have skin issues because they are using the wrong skin products. It actually makes sense if you stop and think about it for a second instead assuming someone is being rude. different products are loaded with different ingredients...some, which may cause rashes, dryness, and abnormal hair growth. For example..different topical and shaving creams cause this. If you read her other posts about the multitude of skin problems, it seems pretty obvious that its something that she's putting on her skin. Saying poor hygiene doesn't cause eczema or ingrown hairs is just false because I personally know people close to me who have experienced this. Or she could have preexisting eczema and can be using products or practicing bad habits that make it worse. So before you try and call people names and assume that I don't know how anxiety works maybe you should do some fact checking and cut back on the assumptions. It'll help you in the long run :)
