Hi there forum,

Sorry if this is not the correct sub-forum but I couldn't see any place to put this post.

I have been off from work for over a year and my c.v. history looks like swiss cheese with lots gaps etc. I really need to get back into work and I wondering what kind of support channels are out there to give me advice and help me do this. I'm based in the UK. If I could talk with someone like an employment councilor who had experience of helping people with depression/anxiety get back to work, that would be ideal.

Anybody in a similar boat or had similar difficulties and have tips or advice.

Thanks

Hiya,

I'm in the same position. Have you made an appointment with an advisor at your local job centre? They can help in numerous ways, but you do have to ask what is available for you, they don't seem to divuldge without prompting.

Also you can look at volunteer work, if you have trouble obtaining employment and also look at courses ( try adult ed and can ask job centre, alng with online,) these all can help plump out a cv more positively, but also promotes the image of self motivated, productive, willing and able attitude employers are looking for.

Good luck and remember it can take time to find work

I think there are example CV's that you can find on the Internet, this may help with how to possibly frame gaps
