this week, i'm taking my BP again (4 times a day, averaging 6 measurements every time). i have my cardiologist appointment in august and i want to show them my real values. i have this thing called anxiety (haha) and they just can't take my BP in the office. i always freak out in any doc's office. seriously... HR 130+ and everything.

but to my question:

what is a normal fluctuation between measurements? i tried to google this, but those articles are always about BP fluctuation during the day. i'd just like to know, what is a normal fluctuation while i'm just sitting calmly and doing nothing. i always wait ca. 1 minute between the measurements and i know very well, how to take BP (heart phobia here!) and my device works perfectly (compared it to several other machines). also: i take my BP 8 times, but ignore the first 2 takes for obvious reasons.

my numbers usually look like this:

yesterday (12:00 pm)
1. 120/69 (76)
2. 113/66 (74)
3. 118/66 (75)
4. 108/66 (77)
5. 111/70 (76)
6. 114/63 (73)

today (7:00 am)
1. 113/67 (67)
2. 100/62 (68)
3. 114/60 (63)
4. 102/64 (69)
5. 110/64 (68)
6. 106/64 (68)

today (12:30 pm)
1. 106/72 (80)
2. 116/65 (72)
3. 105/66 (67)
4. 100/66 (72)
5. 106/62 (69)
6. 108/68 (69)

as you can see, 10-14 points fluctuations are not rare. but sometimes, the numbers are very close to each other. strange...

i always find funny, reading user reviews about BP devices that say like: "the device is definitely wrong, because i noticed !!!!5!!!! (LOL) points difference between measurements".
shouldn't we always take BP at least 3 times and calculate the AVG? not even user manuals say this. well, they do, but rarely.

or are my numbers really not alright? :weep: i just can't stop thinking about this.

Aside from your reasons to take your BP, do you not see the pattern in your NORMAL readings? The 4th reading is the lowest in all examples. Coincidence? I think not. The more you relax while taking obsessive amounts of readings, the lower the number becomes.

Bottom line is they're all normal.
