I'm currently on my way on holiday, stopping at my parents friends on the way. Tonight they had a barbecue, from which I ate 1 & 1/2 burgers. They were fully cooked but I'm concerned I will get food poisoning. I don't know my parents friend well, and I didn't see the preparation so I'm unsure of how hygienic it was. It's 2am and I can't sleep as I'm so worried I'll wake up with food poisoning. My parents aren't worried, and no one else is either but my emetophobia is going crazy!

As long as it was cooked properly I'm sure you're fine. The heat from cooking would kill off any bacteria.

I prefer meat, aside from burgers, at medium doneness. Never been a problem. We even cook them that way at home. I've also had undercooked burgers, though I prefer them well done. No worries.

If it comes to actually worse case scenario, it's not a big deal. I've had food poisoning a couple times. Yes it sucks big time but you just ride it out. As others have said however, it's doubtful this will even be the case.
