Discontinuation depression

Hello!

Been on Venlafaxine 225mg for 2 years.

Started tapering down in November - I do it by 12.5mg every time I feel ready (about every 4 weeks).

I'm on 150mg now.

I feel (albeit more mildly than before) depressed again. I know this is probably the withdrawal but is that because my brain is adjusting or because I'm still depressed?:shrug:

It could be either, but the smallness of the dose reductions and slowness of the taper suggests it's more likely to be the underlying depression being exposed. That said, venlafaxine is notorious for being difficult to quit so withdrawal remains a distinct possibility. The cause may become clearer at lower doses.
