Hi,

I had a colonoscopy today, he said everything looked good but removed 4 small sessile polyps from my sigmoid colon. He clearly said not cancerous but they have gone of for biopsy and I've got to wait 3 weeks to see him.

I'm in total meltdown......I'm 35 why have I got these?
Has anyone ever had them?
Every hit on doctor goggle says pre cancerous
I can't stop crying
What of he is wrong

Most aren't precancerous but remember pre cancer isn't cancer and since you had those ones removed they definitely won't turn cancerous. GIs and surgeons who do colonoscopies know what cancer looks like on scopes and they wouldn't say it's not cancer unless they were sure. You will just need scopes on a more regular basis to monitor polyps. It takes around 10 years for a polyp to turn into a tumour if it is going to do that and with regular scopes colorectal cancer is preventable.

Biopsies are standard procedure in colonoscopies even when there is nothing. Pathology looks at everything that is removed even in surgery. I had my colon/rectum removed (not because of cancer) and they tested and sent a report on it.
