Hi all

I'm a longtime member here and used to post a few times around my heart worries. I've been relatively fine for a long time but over the last few weeks, I've been getting new symptoms and it's freaking me out.

I noticed I was breathing heavier after not really doing much, just climbing the stairs or even randomly lying on the sofa. I then noticed my throat felt like it was tightening and I kept getting what felt like a thud like a heavy heart beat in my throat and that would make my breathing feel weird. I had to consciously take deeper breathe to sort of catch up.

Along with that, I've had a heavy tight chest. It feels like if you've slept on it funny, it feels all tight and like it needs a stretch out. It makes me feel tense and it's like a suffocating feeling.

Its been like this for two weeks now, pretty much constantly. It doesn't go and come, there's no waves and it doesn't seem to be triggered by anything since it's constant. I am obviously thinking about it so that's making it worse but it's hard to ignore.

It hasn't got worse (or better) so that's why I'm thinking it's maybe anxiety. That, and I definitely do feel anxious and fearful. I'm ruling out a serious problem because of a few reasons. I'm eating normally, sleeping normally, going to work, socialising etc. No one thinks I look ill. And it hasn't got progressively worse. But obviously in the back of my mind, there's the fear of a heart issue because of the tight chest and awkward breathing.

How do people learn to ignore things like this - and how do you know what the balance is between ignoring it and telling a doctor? I don't want to waste their time and honestly I don't think I can even explain it properly to them! It's just an awful uncomfortable feeling but I struggle to put it into words.
