I've been taking Trimethoprim antibiotics for 2 weeks for an infection that has now gone. A number of days ago I started getting horribly nauseous and through a process of elimination determined it was the Trimethoprim that was causing it (nausea is a very common side effect with Trimethoprim).
I had the last tablet on Monday night and was horribly nauseous again all throughout the night but it was wearing off by Tuesday lunchtime.
By Tuesday evening I felt fine and was very relieved to no longer being feeling nauseous and the Trimethoprim course was over.
Unfortunately on Wednesday morning the nausea returned again (despite not taking a tablet) and has been with me for most of the day, only easing off slightly towards the evening.
I've only been able to sip water and any food makes me feel worse.
I'm assuming this nausea is caused by any residual Trimethoprim still in my system and the nausea will diminish from here on and not keep returning?
I'm really worried about having any food in case the nausea returns again.
Appreciate any insight/ reassurances.
