I know you have a bipolar diagnosis and I'm amazed you can tolerate SSRI/SNRIs at all but everyone reacts in different ways. There are always new drugs in the pipeline which these psychs love to try out on their patients..Are you confident that your psych is supportive and will your CPN be available should you have problems with a new med? So often these professionals aren't around when you really need them..
Alternatively do you think 30mg of Cymbalta may give you some stability? Sometimes less is more..Certainly was with me and I learned the hard way with hospitalisation when prescribed too much (don't have a bipolar diagnosis though so I appreciate your condition needs very specialised management)

i have tried all mainstream meds , what makes you think bipolar suffers cannot, they all take an AD we take a mood stabilizer that's all that's different. i dont even take a mood stabilizer i take 6mg of lorazepam better than lithium burning my body from the inside. We just have more extreme bouts of illness . Psych support i have the best . i see a nurse every week or mabye 2 at my house, a shrink on call at the end of the phone or through nurse. is just meds i have ran out off , i could take the really old meds but the side effects and food restrictions are worse than the illness, plus your body ballons to Walrus size. LESS CAN BE MORE YOU ARE RIGHT my shrink thinks 30mg cymbalta wont cut the mustard but i need a rest from meds 8 meds in 1 year is to much for my body:wacko::wacko::wacko:

It must be very reassuring to know that you have such a comprehensive support system in place whenever you need it. So often people are just left to get on with meds without any support at all.
Sometimes meds don't go by the rule book and smaller amounts of drugs work better than they are meant to..but psychs don't like to admit to this because they like to adhere to the therapeutic dose adage.
I agree with you in that 8 meds changes in a year is excessive..Maybe time to have some stability and give the lower dose Cymbalta a chance to work if you are happy to do this rather than experiment with a new med? You have a strong support system in place so can get advice at any time.
Valdoxan was an option for my daughter at one stage-the usual blurb about it having less side effects and being faster acting. You need to keep having blood tests to monitor liver function though.
