Hi To you all! My names Laura, living in Ireland for last five and abit years and have been suffering with panic attacks for the last few months. My Mum has suffered with them in the past and has been so supportive and understanding although she is going through her own hell at the moment. I was considering trying a herbal supplement called KavaKava or Hypnotherapy. Has anyone tried either of these and if so any info on them would be great. I want to nip this thing in the bud before I become a recluse. I love life too much to let this thing mess it up! I have given up the booze as I realise this was probably the root of the problem but I still have that anxious feeling (probably worrying that it will happen again, only to wind myself up more and start one off, Duhh!) I've read some of the posts on this site and feel so sad that people have to feel and live like this. I want to wish all of you all the happiness in the world, hopefully we can all beat this bloody thing!

Keep smiling!

Hi,

hypnotherapy can be extremely helpful.
Kavakava is currently off the general market whilst some potential sideffects are looked into. You can still order it online though.

You are right about the booze and fear of the fear.

As your Mum suffers you are more susceptible to it too .

Take care

It is not easy to find happiness in ourselves, and it is not possible to find it elsewhere.

hi laura, Welcom to the site. Well u have the right attitude to beat this by the sound of it. I to quit drinking 12 months ago as i think the drink prolonged the illness. I was drinking heavy for 40 years and suffered on and off for about the same time. I am thinking had I not used drink for all these years maybe my nerves would be a lot better now. I was ok for over ten years until last november when i stopped drink, It made me realy bad stopping drink as it was my crutch, but hope in the long term its for the best. Thanks for wishing us all well as we all wish you the same. take care. Vernon

Hi All,

Just to say big Than Q for welcoming me and thanks for the advice Vernon, Drink is the devil incarnated. I grew up being surrounded by alcoholics and drug addicts and swore I would never become like that, and bam! 10 years later I'm exactly where I planned not to be! Well done for getting off the booze, your proof there is hope!

Well anyway thanks again to everyone, I feel good today, have lost 3 lbs and not a flutter in the belly in sight today, hope the feeling lasts!

Keep smiling
Laura x
