So i took a online test to see how bad my ha is and i scored "extremely high" according to their test, i thoguht it'd be interesting to see what other people scored, i know its a simple test and its not to replace a professional oppinon, but its just a glimpse into how bad your anxiety is, it doesnt ask any anxiety inducing questions dont worry.

heres the link http://www.4degreez.com/misc/hypochondria_test.html

if you dont mind please share your score here.

I got extremely high, that's not a surprise seeming as I've been convinced that I have had at least 4 types of cancer in the last twelve months and I'm 23.

I got EXTREMELY HIGH. Not one bit surprised though considering the amount of "illnesses" I've had over the past year or two..............

Is it a professional test? I noticed they made errors in describing it, although it could be because it's an aged site:

Hypochondria causes people to become preoccupied with the belief that they are suffering from one or more physical diseases. This belief causes great psychological suffering on the part of the hypochondriac. Anxiety and depression often result. However, most cases of this disorder respond to treatment. Hypochondria is also known as hypochondriasis or health anxiety, and may be related to somatization disorder.

I've assumed it's a US site for that, although they don't even mention OCD also occurs in HA as HA is an overlappy umbrella term. Their description wouldn't fit with the view held by WHO outside of the US.

EDIT: I don't mean to say it's wrong, just to be careful as it may not be one the tests used by professionals.

its probably not a professional test, like i said it's not meant to replace a professional oppinon.

I don't think any of you needed this test to tell you that your HA was bad. Hopefully it serves some motivational purpose to keep working on it, instead of making people feel bad.

'very high', but then I knew that already. It told me to get professional help, which I'm doing.

Are people pleased to have scored highly? Does this "validate" your HA or should a high score mean that you should stop continually posting for reassurance and actively seek out therapy or other means of support to get better? What is the point of comparing notes re scores?

I'm pleased to have scored highly as it validates to me that the health condition I have which most needs attention is anxiety. Doing the quiz and getting a high score doesn't necessarily mean that people are not addressing their anxiety though. Hopefully our scores will go down as we work on reducing our anxiety.

That's a very positive attitude to have, cattia. HA isn't a competition.

My "celebration" was more self depreciating than actual celebration

My HA is much better than usual atm but that might be because I have actual real health problems going on to keep me occupied

How about listening to a GP saying you have HA? Online tests may not be professional (that site doesn't get the classification correct but it may be somewhat out of date) and you could have OCD instead.
