Hi,
I'm currently seeing tons of different specialists for an unknown illness or cause of lots of symptoms that I've been having for a few months following a throat infection I had. Basically I turned to Dr. Google and as we all know that's a bad idea, and I came across something called Myocarditis - which is when you have a virus and it spreads to the heart muscles and causes it to become inflamed which can lead to heart damage and all sorts of things. Cue major health anxiety panic.
The symptoms that have been bad in the last few weeks are this horrible fluey like pain in my ribs and an uncomfortable poking like pressure on the left side of my chest along with pain there too - but not as consistent as the lung pain. I'm worried this virus or whatever I had a few months ago is still lingering which would increase my chance of having damaging myocarditis, or that I've developed it following that. I want to mention it to the doctor when I see her but I also don't want to come across as self diagnosing something? Because I don't know I've got that or what but it's scary. I've read about people suddenly dropping dead from it or it causing heart failure which in turn leads to heart transplants etc.
I think because I've been poorly for so long without any explanation of why as of yet, my anxiety has gone off the rails. But that doesn't make the fear any less real :weep:
