I Don't Get it!

Hello

I've had Anxiety and Depression for about 18 mths - 2 years and think I'm finally recovering.

However I have been getting headaches and migraines for the last 6 or so years. Most days I feel OK, but when I get a migraine I go right back to feeling low and anxious again and it takes at least 2 or 3 days for me to feel OK again.

Anybody here tried Amitryptyline for migraine and how did it work for you?

I've tried a SSRI before for the depression and it gave me horrendous side effects and I had to stop it, it put me off drugs completely but I'd be willing to try this if it would stop my migraines.

TIA :)

I've been taking it for years for migraine prevention and haven't experienced any side effects. I think the dosage is different when used for migraines.

I tried it after my doctor prescribed it but it gave me really bad palpitations, I thought I was having a heart attack which definitely didn't help my anxiety  I had to stop it after less than a week but it def started working pretty well by then, palpitations aside..
I do think I'm one of the rare cases though as most people who have tried it said it works quite well!

I was prescribed this for insomnia. Not long after I started getting bad migraine auras, hemiplegic migraine was diagnosed by a nuerologist. My prescription was increased and mxm symptoms increased. I have read alot on the internet that they have helped alot of migraine sufferers. So my experience must be rare. Please keep a close eye on side effects.
