I go to the doctor tomorrow for another blood test following my previous test which showed elevated alt liver enzymes. im 26 male no history with alcohol at all, not overweight, no drug use, and no diseases, so i dont have any risk factors for liver issues aside from the fact my mother has liver issues they think hers may be cirrhosis but she dont have any risk factors either that i am aware of. but my moms history is what gets my anxiety going. my entire cbc was normal except my alt level which was 83 and normal range is 9-40 but before getting the test i was eating alot of tylenol and ibuprofin batteling a nasty cold/sore throat/sinus infection, and just a few weeks later i got the test done and the doctor thinks the tylenol is to blame and that my levels will be normal when i get tested again. my best theory is the tylenol raised my alt levels because tylenol has been shown to increase alt levels 5x the upper limit with the recommended dose and then the levels drop over the course of a few weeks of not taking the medication, so i assume my levels were probably much higher but dropped over the few weeks leading up to my appointment and this was back in january but i was told 2 months ago about the numbers from the january tests so by now they should deffinately be back to normal if tylenol was the cause i have now been 2 months without tylenol so any damage that was done should be reversed by now i assume. whats your thoughts? i have been overly worried because im convinced it was just the tylenol but being the ha that i am my mind gets a little off track at times. sorry for the long post i just wanted to get it all out there so i can have something to keep in mind while facing the doctors tomorrow.
