I saw a physician today who will now be our family's primary care physician. I normally hate Drs but this one registered okay on my scale.

Well.....

He ordered blood work.

Now, I'm already going for thyroid panel blood work (will be most likely having surgery to remove half soon - opposite of excited of course but it will be good in long run)... now this Dr. wants blood work for the following as runs in family and I'm having serious pains and aches...
1) Rheumatoid Arthritis (my mom is awfully affected by this)
2) Lyme's - as I'm always tired and other things - kind freaked as I was bit by tick that deeply embedded in me when I was about 10! Still have the scar from removal!
3) Auto immune - I'm so run down and it runs in family

He says once they rule out all of this - we can know for sure and then if it's just anxiety the medicine he prescribed should help.

Who else is dealing with pending info on blood work at the moment? Any auto immune sufferers?

I have had half my thyroid removed & am hypothyroid & have Hashimoto. I take levothyroxine. Can I ask why you are having half removed ? I had a tumour on mine.

Autumn,

I have what they're calling a benign nodule or goiter. It's on one half and it's pretty big - hasn't changed size though. Blood results previously came back normal for levels of thyroid hormones and the biopsies come back normal as well. Where it's so big, it's best to remove - plus give me a peace of mind for future - and otherwise I need to go see them every year or maybe even more just for check ups. Best to remove.

I had asked this in a different forum, but did you notice that your thyroid problem was causing anxiety?

My tsh levels have been all over the place for the last year, and have been on 150mcg ov levothyroxine for years. I have a specialist appt next week.
