is it just anxiety ?or do i have a real heart problem? i was on here for a long period of time for about 2 months going through attacks. bad ones.

i am doing alotttt better. i can control attacks now and brush them off to the side. but now all i do worry about is "when am i going to die?" or "i wonder how i am going to die". its all cuz every other day i get this crap in my heart where ill just be sitting there.... no anxiety what so ever and my heart will get a super quick sharp chest pain and it feels like it skipped or fluttered. and it literally freaks me out. this has been happening since i was a junior in high school wich was 2001 and i am now 24 and happily married. ya i know young.

basically i know ur probably thinking "well if its been happening for this long there is probably nothing to worry aboiut". yes i have been to the doctors and had an ekg and an x-ray and the docs say they dont find anything wrong with me heart. but this sharp pain with a wam shooting tingle through my body scares me.i am constantly freaked that i have heart disease or something is wrong with it..... if any one can help me please do so and give me some advice. cuz i hate waking up every day thinking i wonder when its gonna happen again. cuz sometimes its very strong...

OH!!!! and!! i figure when i go surf with my father in law it happens alot then! ill get in the water and i have a wetsuit on and everything and my heart just slamssssss in my chest. i dont know if its cuz i am a little out of shape or its just bad in super cold water. is it because of the cold water? is it cuz my heart rate got up? i dont know but i am using surfing for exercise and it sucks cuz all i do is flake out now on my father in law because i am scared ill pass out and dround or ill have a heart attack in the water.. i know i feel like i am nuts. if any one could help out thank you. god bless

Hi

Take a look at this from the symptoms page it may help hun.

Heart palpitations, chest pain, irregular beats, flutters, skipped beats

What you feel:

One of the most worrying symptoms is chest pains or a tight feeling in your chest. The immediate thought is "heart attack" or "stroke" and this only worries you more. You may also notice that your heartbeat is incredibly fast or irregular at times having palpitations and again this leads to the worry that you will have a heart attack.

Often the chest muscles may feel very tight, and sometimes they can become painful if they are tight enough to spasm. Because the individual may become concerned that they may be having a heart attack, their fear will add to the stress biology which can not only worsen the pain, but can produce other symptoms similar to a heart attack such as profuse sweating, light-headedness and numbness in the arms, feet or face.
These increased symptoms can also cause more fear which then can turn into a panic attack
Your heart feels like it skips a beat or flops in your chest. It sometimes may feel like a tickle in your chest that makes you cough. If you take your pulse, you'll notice that sometimes the beats are unevenly spaced.
You may experience a tightness or pressure in the chest. Sometimes you may feel shooting pains, or muscle twitches, or just an uneasiness or fullness in the chest area which causes you concern

There is no evidence that panic and anxiety has any adverse effect on the heart and the pains are easily explained.

What causes this:

Stress biology causes the heart rate to increase. It does this so that the body is ready to take action. It’s like in drag racing, drivers get their RPM’s up prior to the green light so that they can hit the light with maximum torque. Since the stimulant hormone adrenaline, the body’s super fuel, is produced when danger is perceived, the heart rate is naturally increased.

Once the stimulant is used and eliminated from the body, the heart rate will return to its normal range.
Moderate regular exercise helps to regulate this symptom.
When you start panicking the whole of your body becomes tense and this includes your muscles.
The chest pains you experience are due to the constricting of the chest wall muscles and the muscles between your ribs and not due to any actual muscles in your heart and the best cure is to start stretching these muscles gently to relieve the pain. Although you may not feel like doing any exercise whilst getting these pains, try stretching your arms above and behind your head, out to the sides and bending over gently to relieve the pain.

Naturally most people are dreadfully worried about their hearts but if your G.P. has given you the all clear cardiac wise - then do not be alarmed if the chest pains and palpitations come back and last for more than a day. If it is related to panic, although it is painful and worrying, the pains will subside if you try gentle exercise and ignore them.
Regular exercise and deep relaxation help to minimize this symptom. Also, staying away from artificial stimulants such as caffeine, chocolate, high doses of raw sugar (such as pastries, sweets, cookies, etc.) and smoking help to keep this symptom in check.

thank you alot! showing u care means alot. its rough when ur going through anxiety and all people say is "oh stop its just anxiety" i just want to smash em one in the face hahaha.

but i am not tooo worried about my heart racing(although i wonder that if ur heart races alot doesnt that wear your heart out for eventually a heart attack one day?) i am more worried about that quick sharp pain i get and then i get a shooting sensation of warmness and tingling that shoot through my body. then my heart races. its freaky any ideas?

Hi btown! I know how you feel with this one. I'm a guy, early 20's (young also)! I get chest pain, thudding beats, palpitations, symptoms of poor blood circulation amongst others. I'm convinced there's something wrong with my heart that I'm too waiting till the time comes when I suddenly collapse over or end up in terrific pain, I can imagine people saying now, well he always said there was something wrong. I wish you all the best, it's really difficult to know what to do, at least we're not alone in these things.

i,too ,have suffered from an irregular heartbeat for the past six months and today found out that I have a leaking heart valve. I had convinced myself that it was down to anxiety - has anyone had a similar problem and what was the outcome. I could really do with some reassurance as I find it hard to cope on my own.
