I got in a car accident 2 days ago and i went to the hospital. They did a CT scan on my brain to look for concussions but they incidentally found what the nurse explained to me was an arachnoid cyst which is not cancer and isnt even a tumor, its a cyst and wont grow into cancer and is a fluid filled sac on the structure that protects the brain and they gave me a CD of the ct scan and a name of a neurologist to contact. Im so scared that it is actually cancer because one of my worst fears is to have a brain tumor. im afraid ill go to a neurologist and theyll confirm my worst fears. I looked at the scans myself and it was a dark area on the left side near the skull. its not too big. Please help

I understand but what can we say that the doctors haven't?

Good luck and as always...

So I got in a car accident 4 days ago and I went to the hospital so they did a CT scan of my head and found no concussion but they incidentally found an arachnoid cyst. They were careful to use the word “cyst” and not tumor. Basically it’s pocket of Cerebrospinal fluid trapped in tissue. It’s not a tumor and it’s not cancer. Before the accident I had no symptoms but ever since the accident I’ve been having these pressure headaches and my mood has been basically all doom and gloom it feels like I was diagnosed with cancer and I’m afraid after I’ll see a specialist they’ll tell me that it is cancer. Please someone give me reassurance

''Basically it’s pocket of Cerebrospinal fluid trapped in tissue. It’s not a tumor and it’s not cancer''

Do you need anymore reassurance?

Sorry to hear about the car accident

emotionally it feels like i was diagnosed with cancer and ive been very depressed and anxious. I need to go see a neurologist soon and my biggest fear is that the neurologist will tell me the doctors at the hospital were wrong and its really cancer

I'm sorry to hear that but you have just gone through a dramatic event, you're bound to feel anxious and scared.

Hey, if the hospital got it wrong, sue them :winks: just kidding, they wouldn't of they see this thing a lot. I wouldn't worry honestly, brain tumors are serious and no hospital is going to let a patient walk out if they had doubts. You are getting symptoms now because you're thinking about it so much, that can't be helped for now.

(Hope you didn't mind my little joke, was trying to cheer you up :bighug1:)
