I flew home from holiday yesterday & in the evening I felt as if I had been looking at a bright light as had bright spots in front of my eyes. It then became as if i was looking through a kaleidoscope for approx half an hour. Shimmering lights!! I started to panic as thought i was about to have a stroke or something. My husband just said relax its nothing. It did go away but I felt faint & v odd. This morning I'm just worrying about it. My eyes feel fine but anxiety high. Anyone had this ?

Sounds like an ocular migraine. As far as I know, not harmful but scary as hell the first time it happens.

Migraine with aura. Can occur with or without a subsequent headache. I've had them since I was a kid.

I'm sorry you're still worrying, would a visit to your GP help?

I did not have one until perimenopause, and now that I'm past that and my hormones settled down I haven't had one in a long time.

I do know it can be hormonal, my cousin has had them all her life around her period.

Scary as it is, it's actually an amazing event.

I've had this too,and was absolutely terrified. I've only had one,but have never had it until I had severe anxiety.
