I was doing a yoga pose and put a block under my back to support it but it hurt even more and now my lower back is in so much pain. I'm terrified I'm going to be paralyzed from this

Weren't you worried you were going to have a stroke from cobra pose a few weeks ago? Maybe you just shouldn't do yoga as it sounds like it causes you more anxiety than it relieves.

haha yes, I'm paranoid about how you twist your spine and whatever. I might've just pulled a back muscle but it's really painful

apply ice, the pain will feel better in a couple days

It’s muscle strain, that’s all. There is no way for you to exert enough pressure on your own spine to paralyze yourself. If that were possible no one would ever do yoga due to the ever looming possibility of yoga related paralysis.

From someone who hurt their back and has damaged nerves therefore some numbness......you won't be paralyzed coz it would have happened already. If you've hurt yourself before I would stop doing it. Yoga is supposed to be restful and peaceful on your body.

No, you won't be paralyzed. I blew out my L5-L6 (with disc material ejecting from my spine) deadlifting 705lbs in February. Not only am I not paralyzed but I deadlifted 700lbs last week. Follow the RICE protocol and you'll be fine.

I'm guessing genetics and years of training and competing.

As another poster said, if you were going to be paralyzed it would have already occurred. I do yoga all the time with no issue. Worst that has happened is a pulled muscle.
