Persistent painful rib

I'm posting this to see if anyone else has this condition as I'm constantly worried that it's some form of cancer.

I have a very prominent floating rib on my right side and it's constantly painful. I've had an ultrasound and two chest x-rays and both confirmed it's just a rib and a musculoskeletal specialist said that sometimes ribs just hurt. But it seems very odd.

Often it hurts when I push it but this week it hurts all the time, like a tender pain - like if you push a bruise. It's hard to believe that ribs just hurt out of the blue?

I went through a time when my rib was just killing me with pain. I went to see about it, and it ended up being a muscle, and if you have done a muscle in and around your ribs, omg they last for weeks months. Sorry im no doctor, but my god i freaked when mine was sore, could barely move properly. I basically took light pain killers till it as some point calmed down. Good luck i hope you feel better soon.
