Hey everybody!

I have been suffering with eye pain/discomfort/blurred and dim vision for over three months now. I originally thought it was damage due to an accidental exposure to direct sunlight (1-2 second gaze). I had what I believed to be a panic attack later in the day of the sun incident thinking I had destroyed my vision. I have had three different opthamologists and a retinal specialist all say that my eyes are perfect (20/20 vision in each eye) with no evidence of solar damage.

I have also consulted with my primary care doctor and behavior health professionals. I have been diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder and dysthymia (mild persistent depression).

Could all these eye/vision issues be caused by anxiety/mild depression?

Looking forward to your replies.

Thanks!!!

Yes, can definitely be anxiety.
I have just recently suffered this and in the past.
It also followed a panic attack.
It can come and go or at it's worst, stay with you most of the day.
It can also disappear very quickly and out of the blue.

Thanks Carnation!

I am still convinced that the onset of vision issues has caused my extreme anxiety rather than the anxiety causing the vision issues. Even though the eye docs have not found any damage and my visual acuity is 20/20.

Some friends/doctors suggest it may be psychosomatic but I just don’t know.

Desperate for it to go away!!

Hi, I'm getting this at the moment. I've noticed mine is very random which when I think about it, reassures me that it is not a deep problem - or it would be there all the time.

Blurred vision is definitely an anxiety symptom. It can be something else, obviously, but if you have been checked out I really think you can stop worrying...
