HI guys,
As I have a wound on my thumb I've been looking at my thumbs lately.
My dominant hand thumb is bigger than the other.

The whole thumb area on my left hand is bigger, the palm muscle where the lifeline is and the area
around the thumb.

Is this normal??

It's not a huge difference but I've noted it now.

At first I was worried it meant that my hand was infected and now I'm worried that my other hand is going into atrophy!!

I'm left handed so could this be it as it's my left hand that is bigger.

Anyone else noticed this or noticed this now that I mentioned it? ;)

Not wanting to freak anyone out.

I'm sure it's just because that hand is dominant.

Dominant hand = more muscle development.

You use it more therefore you build more muscle to deal with greater load. Exactly the same happens all over the body and is often seen more easily in arms or legs.

Think about how your ring sizes differ between the same fingers on your hands. Your dominant is going to be more developed.

If you measured your forearms, upper arms, calves, quads, etc it's very likely you would find them up to an inch out in size (the larger muscles would be closer to an inch). Even those who train with weights, who measure themselves to track progress, see this frequently and the dominant arm is much easier to perform movements with and therefore is pulled/pushed with greater force causing an imbalance in training.
