Hi.

I’ve just returned from having an ultrasound exam on my testes after having periodic aches and shootin pains. The examiner didn’t give too much away (he wasn’t the most comforting guy) but after asking said there’s a cyst on my testicle.

He said ‘it’s common’ but that doesn’t comfort me at all. Has anybody else had a cyst before? I am NOT going on google to research this

Hi, yes I have 2 in the past one lasted nearly a year, I believe they are quite common. If your doc said its a cyst then thats what it is :)

Yes, I've had cysts there. They're harmless and absolutely nothing to worry about. If that's all they found on an ultrasound you can be rest assured all is fine.

A mate of mine had massive swelling in the testicle turns out he has 3 cysts and a varicus vein

Thanks guys.

He was very blank and didn’t express any emotion so left me with questions. Did you guys have aches also? To be honest I don’t know much about cysts I’m guessing they’re harmless and just go away on their own?

It's not the ultrasound guy's job to give results to people so don't read anything too much into their response. Your GP will talk it through.

But a cyst is just a lump of fluid, totally harmless and will probably go on its own. First one I had was a bit large and alarming to look at but painless, and went. Another was found earlier this year when I had a scan for pain down there and was incidental - the pain was caused by varicoceles which are annoying but also harmless.

From what I gather testicular cancer can, but doesn't typically, cause pain, and other causes are far more likely. It would be picked up on a ultrasound, so if (when) you get the clear you can totally put it out of your mind.

A doctor once told me when I had some gyp down there... "balls just hurt sometimes". ;) Good you got it checked out, but likelihood is you have nowt to worry about. And very worst case scenario is super-treatable to near 100%, though it sounds like that's not something you'll have to deal with.

Hi it always good to get anything checked out

I been for two ultrasounds in the last two years (last year my GP thought he felt a lump) which got me worried, so I was referred under the 2 week rule, so specialist he could not feel anything but got me into for a scan on the same day, just double check,

I ahve two cysts which I think are in my epdidymis (sp?)

And that’s harmless right?

All mine have been harmless, nothing to worried about just keep an eye of them, if there are causing me pain I can have them removed

Not sure how many different ways it can be said, but yes cysts are totally harmless and nothing to do with cancer and totally nothing to worry about - annoying at the very very worst ;)

I've previously had a varicocele and a cyst on my left testicle where I had an ultrasound to confirm. This was 2 years ago.

However, I've had a sharper dull ache in my right testicle for about 4 weeks now. It syncs with aches in my lower abdomen which make me feel like a have to pass gas. I've had the GP have a look and he found no lumps but booked me in for a scan. The ache happens probably every 60 minutes.

It feels like the ache is on my testicle. When I was having aches I had a feel and it feels like my testicle.

Having quite bad anxiety over this especially with the abdomen syncing

Had/have a cyst as well. Had pain beforehand and was getting tired of it. Ultrasound confirmed.

Once I knew what it was, the pain kind of went away. Was all in my head or something.
