Is a platelet count of 405,000 something I should be worried about??

I see so many different ranges online, but the range my doctor used was 150,000-375,000??? Why is that? im scared of leukemia or lymphoma.

I did have a bad bout of strep throat and was just getting over it when I went for blood work...could that have any affect on the values?

This is a question for your Doctor, not a load of unqualified people with health anxiety on a forum.

What did the doctor say when he gave you the results?

A quick search shows up you normally have anywhere from 150,000 to 450,000 platelets per microliter of circulating blood. Perhaps the lab your GP uses only records up to a certain amount? Are concerns not more to do with when there's a low platelet count? It's something only your GP could answer I think.

I'm not a doctor but I'd say that an infection like strep throat would definitely raise your white blood count, as your blood cells are fighting the infection. Speak to the doctor, he/she will put your mind at rest. If they were worried about it, I'm sure they would have called you in for further tests.

My lab uses a range of 150,000 to 450,000 but not all labs use the same range. What did your doctor say about your labs? They are the best person to discuss your results with if you are concerned.

Mine is 405k as well. I fall right into the range for normal. I think 450 is the cap where I go.

I had the same worry. An infection can definitely increase your platelets.
