Hi,

I have a a weird and wonderful journey to where I am today. I started out my career wanting to become a medical doctor and taken in a lot of knowledge through that time. I drifted off that path and ended up a software developer for an investment bank (polar opposites, I know).
Through the years, I developed a health anxiety and it’s become part of my life, however; the irony is, through the medical knowledge I have, it’s almost become an enemy. In this case, knowledge isn’t always power as it fuels my anxiety and I challenge my GP and push for further investigations.
I would say that, we need to trust our doctors, because the amount of work it takes to become a doctor is huge, it’s very demanding and they are very qualified (more so than Google).
I’m not a fully qualified doctor, so please dont take my advice as any means of a diagnosis and certainly not over your own doctors advice. I’m also suffering with a health anxiety and the main reasons I decided not to end up as a medical professional.

Looking forward to getting to know people.

My partner wanted to be a paramedic, her father is a heart specialist so was encouraged to go into the medical route but wasn’t for her.

Nice to meet you Tyler, I’m John (my username is Jack but not in the name sense, it means somthing else to me) :-).

Probably more to help others than myself. Curious also to see how others behave or go about dealing with their worry.

I wanted to go down the medicine path but knew I would suffer from "medical students' syndrome"

Nah, not as cool as that. My parents debated on Jack or John and I still get called Jack by my dad and it winds my Mum up. I just go with it :-p.

You're somebody with medical knowledge who's here to try to help others out? You're gonna get mobbed.

Good on you though!

Yes, I’m aware of this, however; I can only give the time that I have available and if I manage to help someone feel better, then great.

PS, nice to meet you Jenny :-).

Having medical knowledge is a big asset! It would be easier for you in your journey! Anxiety can be "terminated" by diet, exercise and rest!
Of course, this involves "mathmatical" discipline!AS long as you understand the internal mechanisms of the human body, things will be easy to follow! Given the fact that you have a medical background, it would be easier on you! Good luck!
