I have a headache in my right temple only. It hurts, and of course I'm running to having a brain bleed or stroke or something dire. I don't usually get headaches except for the occasional ocular migraine (which often doesn't include pain, just vision issues). This pain has been going on and off for a few days. It hurts more when I think about it which makes me think my anxiety is a contributing factor. It started though without my being anxious so I know the headache is 'real.' I googled (dumb), and it said headaches in temples can be serious. So.... anyone experienced something similar?

Hello Jules.

Firstly, it doesn’t sound like a stroke or any hemorrhage. The signs of a stroke come on quickly and also develop quickly (in most cases). You can also have transient ischemic attacks (TIA) or mini strokes, but it really doesn’t sound like it.
I think you’re right, the more you think, the worse it gets; almost psychosomatic. It’s probably nothing more than a combination of that and tension.
Probably worth adding that when you describe it as coming and going, once your artery becomes blocked by a major stroke, I can assure you, it doesn’t come and go, the damage gets progressively worse and affects motor functions so put that out of your head. . :-).
Have you any other symptoms?

I did have one in my left temple 8 months ago. I found a video on youtube that this kind of headache can be triggered by tense trigger points in sternocleidomastoid muscle. I massaged my trigger points and my head ache went away. I had it for 2 weeks!

I had the same thing, only in the right temple. Turns out it was too windy outside, also the air conditioner was on so this happened. Had it for a week or something, I was very worried, but my doctor prescribed me some pill and it went away : )
Good luck!!
