Hi Everyone! Been a bit but here I am yet again. So two weeks ago exactly a red spot like the size of a pencil eraser maybe a tad smaller appeared on my breast I thought possibly ingrown hair zit or even bug bite. Was putting a steroid cream on it that I have at home and it's still here. Friday I went to the university of Michigan breast clinic and had the nurse practitioner take a look and she also did a breast exam. She said it had no appearance of breast cancer and my breasts are perfectly normal. She said it could be an ingrown hair cyst any number of skin issues that just happen and a follow up wasn't necessary. The problem is the cancer I'm worried about is inflammatory breast cancer which is often misdiagnosed. It can start as a bug bite looking bump. I am petrified that I have this cancer and it's spreading as we speak. When I pick the skin up on my breast where the mark is it feels like a splinter is inside. Is this what ingrown hairs feel like? I'm so worried. Anyone ever go through this? Could this be ibc? Would a nurse practitioner in a breast clinic know the signs to look for? Help please!

Anyone?

If it was cancer it would have gotten worse by now. IBC is even more rare than actual breast cancer. Ingrown hairs in the breast do usually feel like something under the skin. I had one before and was able to pop it.

I hope so! The NP at the breast clinic said there was no skin thickening or anything abnormal but two weeks and this stupid pink mark is here. I also spoke with an oncologist at the clinic and she said it would not be a spot the size of a pencil eraser it would be much larger. Ugh I just hate this so much. Thanks for replying to me!

Hi,

These breast spots can take a while to disappear, I've had a few. It's like getting a spot anywhere really.
IBC although rare, does move quickly.

Good that you've sought medical reassurance. My daughter had a rash on a part of hers which lasted a few weeks then disappeared with steroid cream :)

I had the same thing. Mines took almost a year to disappear. I spent a year crying and worrying that I had IBC. I was told that it didn’t appear to be IBC but I just knew in my mind that it couldn’t have been anything other than IBC. I was obsessed with looking at it and imagining that it was getting worse. Everyone kept telling me that it looked the same but in my HA mind it looked just like the pictures of IBC. It got so bad that I was in a car accident and while sitting there waiting on the police, I was looking at my breast spot. My niece said we just had an accident and you’re checking that thing on your breast. (My spot was high enough to see without having to lift my shirt) when she said that it really hit me that I had allowed this to take over my life. One day I looked and the spot was completely gone. It was as if it disappeared over night. Every spot on the breast doesn’t have to be IBC. IBC cause the breast to be swollen, red, pitted like an orange peel, the nipple may even start to invert, and it may even be painful. IBC is one of the fastest growing cancers and you would definitely notice that your symptoms are rapidly changing. If the doctor say it’s not IBC believe that. If it don’t change or get worse, then get a second opinion.

Thanks ladies! I was also told it would rapidly progress and in two weeks it hasn't at all. I was told no follow up was even necessary. Worrywart do you think I should get a second opinion or only if it changes?

Hi

This is just a courtesy reply to let you know that your post was moved from its original place to a sub-forum that is more relevant to your issue.

This is nothing personal - it just enables us to keep posts about the same problems in the relevant forums so other members with any experience with the issues can find them more easily.

I don’t think you need a second opinion right now. I would watch it for any changes first.

Thanks so much worrywart! Happy to know yours is all gone! Anyone else ever have a similar issue?

So three weeks later and sit is here! Derm said post erythema but I really don't think that's it. No change other than it's possibly lighter in color. Still feels like a splinter or something inside of it. I'm so scared. I don't know what to do.

Hi! I have the exact same issue, small red spot on breast looking like an ingrown hair or really dry skin or something. Freaking out about IBC

looking like an ingrown hair or really dry skin

Then thats what it likely is, if it looks like it. Inflammatory breast cancer is, as you know, extraordinarily uncommon in your age bracket, making it almost a negligible chance it would be that.

My spot is still here. It's been three weeks yesterday. Both Nurse Practioner at breast clinic and derm said it's not ibc. Still scared. But it hasn't gotten worse. If anything it's better.

Both Nurse Practioner at breast clinic and derm said it's not ibcThere we go then. It s not IBC. I know people with and who have had IBC and if the medics had ANY hint of concern you'd be being checked further.

Can I remind you also of this...

Friday I went to the university of Michigan breast clinic and had the nurse practitioner take a look and she also did a breast exam. She said it had no appearance of breast cancer and my breasts are perfectly normal.

You have been given the all clear many times, by many different specialists.

Thanks Carys. I'm currently in waiting room for mammo and ultrasound. Hopefully this will help me put my mind to rest.

Hiyer, how did it go ?

CHELLEB1017
30-01-18, 20:34
Well the breast the spot is on is fine but the other had a ton of images taken by mammo, then ultrasound, then 3-d mammo. I was told the radiologist wasnt sure what they were seeing could just be glandular tissue which is the reason for all the images of that breast. After the 3-d mammo I was able to leave and she mentioned something like air pockets and that I was fine and I would just need a follow up in 6 months of that breast. I asked if they thought it was cancer and she said no if that was the case we would be doing a biopsy today. But still why follow up? I am 36 not even 40 yet. Ugh scared still. By the way thanks so much for asking!

Carys
30-01-18, 20:44
Well that's great news isn't it....no IBC ! I have no idea why the follow-up, as thats something only you can ask them. I will say this though, if they had any concerns you WOULD have had biopsy there and then ( I know I did!) Being cynical - perhaps they just want some more money?:roflmao:

That is possible haha!!!! Thanks again for asking :)

Hi Everyone! So the spot on my breast is fading away as the Derm said it would. But I do have these large pores on the same breast opposite side to where the spot was/is. Is this peau d' orange? I have them on the other breast too but not nearly as big. Help I am freaking out again!https://ibb.co/bsMPJH

I honestly don't think it's appropriate to be putting breast pictures up. I know it doesn't show 'anything private' as such, but I just find it a bit strange to be honest...putting it up there for strangers to view. Seeing as you've put it up....I can see some pores yes, but they are just pores.....don't you want pores ? LOL

Sorry about the pic I hope I didnt offend anyone. So this does not look like peau d' orange to you?

Carys
20-02-18, 17:36
Well, I'm not offended, I just find it a bit odd posting parts of your body that are usually private on a public forum.

Anyhow, I've had to look up this blah orange thing, as never heard of it. I am presuming you are mentally making a link to IBC. But you've been given the all clear for that, so it can't be P D'O - right. :D

I have the same thing! It feels like a small pimple type thing maybe but it’s the eraser sized red spot that has me afraid of IBC. I put some fighting five essential oil on it this morning and no change except that I messed with it and made it more red. I’m not sure who to go to see about it and I’m nervous....

Chelleb1017 and Crazygirl did all your symptoms clear up? I currently have a pencil eraser sized red spot since Wednesday and it's driving my HA mad! It would be nice to know if it all resolved well for you guys
