About a week - two weeks ago, I took the amsler grid test. It is used to detect changes in the retina, particularly the macula. It is often used to help with the diagnosis of macular degeneration.

I tried it, and saw wavy lines on it. Obviously, this scared me. So I went to my optometrist. He examined my eye via fundus, looking at the back of my eye via a light, and visual field testing. He said that I was near-sighted and needed glasses again (as I hadn't worn them in a while).

I tried it again with my glasses on, and all the lines were straight.

Its not always a sign of macular degeneration, but sometimes a sign of eyes that require glasses.
