Hi Everyone, I just got back from my Derms and she ended up removing a mole. She said she doesn't think it's anything but still does not like the looks of it. We were going to watch it for a few months but then when she said she doesnt like the looks of it as it has browns and pinkish hints to it I just said lets take it off. It was 4mm by 1mm so pretty small. My Grandma past away from melanoma in 2015 (decades after her original dx) so I am just literally shaking like a leaf. I asked her if she thought it was melanoma or cancer and she said no I would tell you right away that it needs to come off if that was the case. I have postpartum anxiety and I am so scared. I dont know how I am going to function for a week. I am a mess. Do you think derms have a pretty good clue at knowing if something is more than likely okay since she used her scope? Please help me.

A doctor that spent 8 or more years in school and then years of seeing hundreds if not thousands of patients. What do you think? :whistles:

So I called the office and asked if they could put a rush on it and I would pay for any costs. The put the order in as stat since I am so anxious. The MA said that she spoke with the doctor and she said she isn't worried about it and the MA looked at the photo and also said it doesn't look worrisome to her so not to lose any sleep over it. So I guess atleast I'll get my answer sooner but I'm still petrified. Any body ever have any moles taken off that came back benign even if they were a little odd looking?

Hi,
Did you read the above post quote? I second it! The specialists know best plus they have accountability :)

Yep, I had one taken off my thigh last summer that was irregular looking and the borders had changed over the course of a year. My derm also said she didn't think it was anything but an irregular mole, but took it off because I had been concerned about it for several years. It came back benign--my body just apparently makes weirdly shaped moles. I'm glad I no longer have to look at it, though.

Can I ask, what good is worrying about it doing you at this point? You had the mole removed, they are testing it, it will most likely be benign, but if your worst case scenario happens how will worrying now make any difference? There's nothing more to be done at the moment, so why waste your energy thinking about it? Just put it out of your head and go do something else to occupy your mind.

Yes, my husband has had 20 removed so far. 2 they were pretty sure were cancer. Turns out no cancer so far. Relax. Chances are they are just moles or may be just dysplastic which means nothing more then a funny mole
