View Full Version : Scans on Thursday. Want to cancel. Talk some sense into me please

So I’ve had ongoing symptoms for getting on for two years now. Bowel issues, pain under left and right ribs, constipation, painful tailbone, rectal pain. I wasn’t getting anywhere with my GP who I felt was too quick to put it down to anxiety.

I got a new GP who listens to me now and has booked me in for pelvic and abdo scan. My appointment is on Thursday. Ive already cancelled it once because I was too scared of what I’m sure they’re going to find and wasn’t ready to deal with it. Now I’m getting horrific joint pain in my hands and feet and I want to cancel again as I’m convinced this joint pain is the cancer spreading and I’m just too scared to go.

I’m also depressed which isn’t helping. I have good intentions of getting on with my day and then just cancel everything so I can go back to bed. Today I need to go grocery shopping but as yet can’t face getting in the shower or getting dressed. It’s too much effort.

Can anyone give me a firm talking to please?

I'm saying this as someone who avoids Dr's, tests, scans etc....so I do sympathise but you really should go! Your new GP has more than likely booked these tests to put your mind at ease, sitting at home hiding from it isn't going to ease your mind, whichever way you go you'll have anxiety symptoms, but at least by going for the tests eventually you'll have answers.
Do you have any support? Someone that could go with you on Thursday?
Take care x
