Eyebrow Hair Loss

For a few months, I've been losing several hairs from each brow whenever I touch them or wash my face. There's no bald spots or anything but my brows appear to have lost some density. What could be the cause behind this?

Hi Jake, you're correct, we can't tell you what it is, only a doctor can do that, but my own experience of this was down to an underactive thyroid. With me it affected my eyebrows from the outside edge, my eyelashes also became much thinner as did underarm and leg hair. There were other symptoms of course which made sense when the underactive thyroid was discovered, but it can take time for it to actually show up in blood tests as it did for me, but thinning eyebrows was the start of it.

Losing eyebrows is natural, but we don't normally notice it as regrowth happens quite quickly, but if your thyroid starts to slow down so does the regrowth and then you start to notice thinning. However, it could be nothing at all and only you know if it's happening more often so always see your doc if you're worried about it.
