I'm freaking out, and I need some reassurance. I was washing my dishes today after about a week (gross, I know!), and I found a pot that had some greenish/blue mold in it. I assumed water would get rid of it, so I just pounded it with water from the faucet. When the water hit the mold, though, it evaporated into the air close to where I was standing and now I'm afraid that I inhaled some and will suffer some respiratory / allergic reactions. Is blue-green dish mold that dangerous? Should I be worried?

Blue mold - like the kind you find on food - is typically harmless. It's black mold - like what you hear about being in some homes as a result of water damage - you want to be careful around. But even then it's chronic exposure as opposed to one-time exposure that's an issue.

So don't worry. Aside from it being icky you'll be just fine.
