Pain in colon

I’ve been having this like sharp pain in my colon for a few days and I’m growing a bit concerned with it as it won’t go away. I have IBS and the typical health anxiety but I’ve had a cold and it’s pretty much gone but now this has come up. My mum says it’s trapped wind but it’s only on my left side right where my colon is and it stretches up under my rib cage. I’ve also got a lingering cough aswell from my cold and every time I cough it does strain that area and can be a little painful. Does anyone know what it is or is it just my IBS and anxiety working in unison again? No other worrying symptoms like nausea or vomiting or anything like that, just feels like a sharp pain.

If you've had a cold and cough it could just be you've strained some muscles ?

Does sound very typical of IBS. I have it too, get the sharp pains every so often, also one sided. They are short in duration but can pack a little but of a punch. Had them years, still here though :yesyes:

I thought the same, it feels like the pain you have from a pulled muscle but it’s strange. I have had it before a few times but just concerned knowing it’s been around for a few days.

It can be a pain but just never had it this long, is it the same side as mine? I have had it both sides before on different occasions but now it’s just on this left side.

Yeah sounds like a pulled muscle. When I had the flu last month I was coughing so forcefully that I could feel multiple muscle groups being strained. I ended up bruising a muscle near my rib cage. The pain lasted for about a month. I also remember muscles in my lower abdomen feeling painful as well whenever I coughed. If it’s not that it could be gas pain. If it were serious you’d have vomiting or other GI signs.
