I hate when people tell me this. I have nothing against therapy. It just isn’t as neat and simple as people think. I often hear this when people are writing extremely insulting posts towards me. It makes them feel like they’re giving me advice when they’re really not. They just judge me. Most therapists just don’t work for me. They’re either too homework focused, too feel-good hippyish or just plain mediocre. A lot of them also aren’t familiar enough with OCD. I worry I’ll spend the whole session talking about my obsessions. No one ever offers advice on how to actually find a good therapist. It’s almost as if they’re completely clueless.
