Hi all
I've had mild acid reflux for about 10 years and for 9 years have been on a low dose of omeprazole. A friend of mine yesterday told me there are new studies which link omperazole to being at a higher risk of developing alzheimers disease, his partner has been on a high dose of it for years and is now having an operation due to damage to the oesophagus. I'm now panicking as although I'm only on 10mg a day I have been on it for years although all 3 of my endoscopies have been clear and fine . I realise that an increased risk isn't the same as "you're definitely going to get it" but I'm still concerned.
The trouble is I've tried to get off the omeprazole completely before but never managed as my symptoms come back.
Anyone else have this problem or got any thoughts?
